  1. New Domain

    August 18th, 2009
    By Rob Hughes

Well, I’ve been thinking I don’t like my url that I’m on anymore (admittedly I only recently moved onto it, but still)

I’ve purchased two new domains now – just need to decide which one I prefer more:

Main problem I’m having choosing is that although I prefer the sound and feel of InverseSEO more than SEOTone, the latter looks more legible when written down in URL format, can’t decide if that matters or not.

When I think about it a bit more in depth I’m not actually sure I should really use either of them since the majority of my posts don’t really have anything to do with SEO at all, more so with random comments and thoughts.

I do think though, if I had more traffic I may post some more interesting blog posts and put more thought into them rather than just putting them up without even proof reading things!!

So, now – admittedly mid post – I have decided I’m definitely going to go with one of these two domains… also I’m swaying towards inverseSEO…. hmmm I shall have a think!

  2. Making a CMS

    July 25th, 2009
    By Rob Hughes

Well, I had a long night last night after I got home from work!

Had a couple of hours off watching TV then did about 7hours coding/learning about a simple CMS (Content Management System) that I want to make.

I was having a play around with CMS’s for a friend that is wanting to pick one to use on his website, having a look for one that is simple for users that don’t know what they are doing, yet SEO friendly whilst keeping ENOUGH features to not make it pointless.

Maybe it’s just me, but I couldn’t really find what I wanted anywhere so I’ve decided to make my own!

Started coding it last night (as I said) and at the moment it’s pretty rubbish to be honest!

I am coding it in PHP and using a MySQL database to run it from – 3 databases:

    • Pages – pages for the site itself
    • Admin – pages included in the control panel
    • Users – users that can log into the control panel

I don’t think it’s coming along too badly at the moment  considering the work that has been spent on it (and I was drinking whilst coding so had to do a few pages multiple times), got a few bugs which are annoying me but that’s more to do with lack of wanting to do research and just using the good ol’ trial and error method!!

Anyway, I’m thinking once it’s all coded up I’m going to set up a small test site somewhere and put some content on it and see if the performance is going to be good enough and what other features I’m missing.

Here is a sneak preview of the administration section :)

  3. My Cars

    June 22nd, 2009
    By Rob Hughes

Hmmmm, ok my initial idea of putting up a second post the same day REALLY did not go to plan at all!!

    Oh well!

Anyway, here is an introduction to one of my major hobbies – cars and my basic history with my latest cars:

    • 1989 Mini Thirty
    • 1994 Honda CRX ESi
    • 1996 Honda CRX ESi

These are the three cars I currently have on my driveway (or more correctly my parents driveway since I’m renting my house out at the moment).

    The Mini

I’ve had this car since I was 16 or 17, so almost 6 years now and it’s been through various stages!
I first got the car before I passed my test as I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it for sale in my local Morisons supermarket, quickly borrowed money off my parents (I’d only just started work) and bought it straight away.

I absolutely love this car, always have and probably always will, it took me through my test and also (rather upsettingly) into my first accident.

It got completely repaired though, whilst at the same time had all rust removed and a full-respray to put it back to perfect condition.

It’s now a bit worse for ware admittedly, rust is coming through the surface, needs the sills welding up, etc. really want to get it all perfect again but i’ve just got too many expenditures going out at the moment to do it!

    1994 Honda CRX

This was my first Japanese car and I’ve really fallen in love with these cars now!
I bought the car from a friend of mine (that I unfortunately don’t really speak to anymore) and, although pretty expensive, was just amazing!

I spent quite a bit of money on this car including a full custom interior, full respray, etc.

Now it’s kind of in bits on my driveway and I can’t decide what to do with it, but that’s another story!

    1996 Honda CRX

This is my latest CRX delsol that I’ve bought, it’s a very rare Adriatic Blue colour with many extra’s that are quite rare (and some that aren’t):

    - Adriatic Blue
    - Electric Aerial
    - Transtop Roof (Electric hard-top convertible)
    - Full Black interior
    - Gathers rear speaker grills, etc.

This is where my major funds drain is at the moment as I just don’t seem to be able to stop spending on it.
(I’m planning another post in the near future that will talk just about this car =D )

But yep, I’ve spent a hell of a lot on this car, more than I’d like to think of and a lot more than the cars worth – but hey, who cares? – it is a hobby afterall!!

I have had many other cars, but these are my main/favourite cars that I like talking about the most. I could actually talk about them for pages and pages so I decided to keep this as a really short summary of them and then I’ll see if I want to expand on the others later and maybe give a further insight into other vehicles I’ve owned :)

  4. Hello!

    Hey,

This is RobH just saying welcome to my blog…

Not really a very interesting starting post I admit, just thought it was time to start up my blog again after losing it all (including all my original posts) when I changed my hosting accounts to an unlimited account.

At work at the moment so I’d better not keep the post too long, just eating my lunch woop!

I’m thinking to get the ball rolling I might put up a bit of a blog post telling some people about my passion of cars and my work with clubs that I’ve helped with previously… we’ll see what happens, that idea could change!!
